The joy, laughter, and smiles were contagious at the TawSaeng Christmas program. It had been since before the pandemic that we were able to gather in large numbers. To our delight, we had over 60 students, family members, staff and volunteers come together to celebrate Christmas and close out an amazing year at TawSaeng. Some of the mothers preformed a traditional Ahka dance. Our students played guitar, sang and danced in celebration. Every student received a gift, specifically picked out for them and each family received groceries and a household item.
We often take for granted the impact that a simple gift can make. One of our high school students who has only been coming to TawSaeng for about a year told us that the gift we gave him was the first Christmas present he has ever received. Not only did receiving his first Christmas gift make a lasting impression on him, he shared that what really impacted him was participating with other TawSaeng students to deliver groceries and Christmas presents to one of our underserved neighboring communities. We want every student and family to know they are loved, cared for and have value.
It is truly a blessing to not only give gifts to our Thai community, but to pour into their lives through teaching them English, life-skills, delivering groceries, mentoring them, and offering scholarships so that they can complete their educations.
