Workshops for girls , jointly with Niñas Sabias association.
Menstruation is not a problem... unless it causes girls to miss school, drop out of their studies, and feel unworthy.
On Friday, May 3rd, the successful Niñas Sabias (Wise Girls) workshop took place at Don Diego Elementary School. This workshop was aimed at girls in 5th and 6th grade from the community and had the attendance of 30 girls.
The Niñas Sabias Workshop is a program focused on menstrual education and body literacy aimed at all girls preparing for or experiencing puberty. It emphasizes providing education, empowerment, and entrepreneurship to all girls, giving them a solid foundation upon which they can dream and thrive.
The Don Diego Community Foundation recognizes the importance of comprehensive education, and based on this, we develop programs that allow girls to explore their biological wisdom, power, and personal awareness.
To ensure that our programs can be replicated in different contexts, we train women as Niñas Sabias Teachers. This way, the circle of girls can expand and be recreated everywhere. Additionally, we create and support local women-owned businesses to provide girls with materials and resources that enable them to learn, flourish, and thrive.
The Wise Girls workshop at Don Diego Elementary School was a great success, and we had the invaluable support of the principal. We are excited to continue our work and continue empowering more girls on their path to success and personal fulfillment.
In our Foundation we join forces with other local non profit association. We thank the association “Niñas Sabias”, for their support to our community.
