Winter Program 2024/25 Report

By Mun Maya Rawal | Executive Director

In Fall 2024/25, the HCC Nepal team conducted a field visit to monitor the progress of students in the Rural Investment Education Scholarship Program (RISE) and distribute scholarships and essential supplies. The team, consisting of Dinesh, Laxmi, Nishan, HCC youth Arun, and FUNkids staff member DP Aryal, visited 77 students enrolled in the RISE program across Upper and Lower Dhading, Nuwakot, Banepa, Jiri, and Kathmandu. In Dhading, the team worked closely with local government authorities, distributing materials and sharing information about ongoing program activities. Most students live with their families, but 17 students reside in boarding school hostels.

Key Activities:

  1. Distribution of warm winter clothes, woolen caps, socks, mufflers, stationery, and personal care items.
  2. Collection of written updates and photographs for program records.
  3. Retrieval of students' exam results.
  4. Counseling sessions with students to support their academic and personal development.

Dina:

Dina is a bright 10-year-old in Grade 5 at Shree Nagyashwori Aadharbhut, with a GPA of 3.35. She loves English and Mathematics and studies for two hours daily. Dina dreams of joining the military and serving her nation. She lives with her parents and younger sister in Dhading Besi. Her parents are farmers, and her they works in the fields. Dina enjoys spending time with friends, playing games, and helping her parents at home. This year, she won 2nd place in musical chairs and 1st in a Quiz contest. Dina is grateful for the support in her education.

The field visit was a success, providing much-needed support and monitoring to students in the RISE program. Through collective efforts, we continue to create meaningful impacts on the lives of children and their families in Nepal.
