As of the beginning of December 2018, there are 88 students in HCC’s Rural Education Scholarship Program (previously known as the Earthquake Orphan Scholarship Program). This HCC project is managed by graduated and senior students of HCC, who as former beneficiaries help set policies and provide social services including advocacy and emotional support to the supported children.
This Fall, HCC awarded two students from this project, one female and one male, with scholarships to attend university in Kathmandu. Both students started their courses in November. One student is living with extended relatives, while the other has moved into the HCC youth home, Khushi Ghar, where she lives with house parents and other HCC college students.
“Now I have joined Khushi Ghar and I want to study business at university. I’m learning new, different life skills in Khushi Ghar. Thank you, sponsors, for supporting me. Thank you.”
