Saluting Supermoms
I am filled with pride and gratitude when I think of these single mothers who are not only raising their own children but also those who are less fortunate in the community of Mvutjini. They do this with no assistance from relatives, who work more than one job in order to feed, clothe, and put these children through school. They bend over backwards to give their children the best life they can.
These women are the heroes of our society. They show that being a single parent is not the end of the world and if being strong for your children, one day it will pay off. These women are known as the micro finance ladies. They are a group of 7 single mothers who lost their husbands due to different circumstances. Global Giving donors have helped these women reach their goal as they have been awarded a loan to grow their small business.
Nurturing NCP kids Early
Early childhood development is crucial. With your help we were able to gather the most needed resources for our children, so that their abilities or talents can be identified and nurtured at a younger age. Everyone has a God given talent, but you need resources to unlock and support it.
Thank you so much for your donations as we will be transforming all our 6 NCP classrooms into different learning areas. These areas will help in a tremendous way as we currently have large numbers of children to one teacher, with the renovations, the teacher will easily manage her class. The teacher can also determine by observation the progress of the children. We are excited to announce this process that has already started by the building team that has been very busy repainting the classrooms. The new classroom walls will be ready before the re-opening of third term so the kids will arrive at school to a new and improved classroom.
NCP Teachers Training
Every two months we are able to host a teacher’s trainings for our NCP teachers. During these trainings we discuss various issues from personal to work related. These trainings are importantly hosted to help empower our teachers as they are not trained but are only volunteering due to the passion they have for these less fortunate children. We spoke about topics including reminding each other on how to use the curriculum. Positive discipline to the children, Cleanliness of our NCPs to curb the spread of diseases as well as the importance of communication to both the children they teach and the volunteers that assist them. We were also able to pass out donated supplies like crayons, story books and toys.
THANK YOU!!
