Educate & feed 300 children in Swaziland!

It is that time of year again where we celebrate the milestones of the underprivileged children that we support in the eight Neighborhood Care Points the All Out Africa Foundation currently runs. Due to the aftereffects of COVID-19, the number of children in our NCPs has gone up tremendously, with a total of 200 children graduating and heading into primary school next year.

The children were very excited as they showcased what they have been learning through the year. They performed confidently in front of AOA guests and their proud parents. These children were able to get quality preschool education through the support of AOA. This will help them do as well in school as children who have attended private pre-schools. This will also in turn limit school dropouts later due to the lack of confidence or educational attainment in school.

The children start school knowing their alphabets, numbers, days of the week, and rhymes as well as writing their names and joining three-letter words. Statistics show that 63% of children in Eswatini do not receive early childhood education, often leading to school dropouts as children lack the critical foundation necessary to succeed later down the line. Enthusiasm was the order of the day, with the most favourite performance for everyone was the traditional dance performed by the girls.

The event wouldn’t be complete without food. Everyone was treated to a meal of fried chicken, fried rice, beetroot, potato salad, and steamed carrots. These meals were prepared by the cooking ladies that work at the NCPs and enjoyed by all who attended the graduation ceremony at the 8 NCPs we support. We are looking forward to an even better year ahead.

While our 8 Neighborhood Care Points (NCPs) have enjoyed programmatic successes, the rise in economic inflation and the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic have made our programs more expensive this last fiscal year. 

The continued support is very much appreciated and essential to our contributions to the futures of children, families, and communities in our world that lack opportunity We cannot do this without all of your donations. All Out Africa Foundation hopes to build and maintain our donor relationships as we continue to carry out work in the communities in and around Ezulwini. 

The need on the ground is huge. We would like to reach out to even more children in the communities that we work with, and this can only be made possible by you our supporters. We are able to continue providing Rice, Beans, Cooking Oil, Soup, Sugar, Bar of Soap, Pot Scorer, Chicken Stock Powder and Salt to more than 300 children every month. This supplements the Maize Meal and Jugo Beans supplied by World Food Program who are also our partners.

All Out Africa started vegetable gardens at the 8 NCPs that they support. This helps provide fresh vegetables to the children on a daily basis. The gardens have Spinach, Cabbage, Beetroot, Carrots, Onions and Lettuce. We are so grateful to have dedicated support staff members at the NCPs who work tirelessly to make sure the gardens are always looking good. 

In our ongoing preschool program, AOA continues to provide quality Early Childhood Education to underprivileged children in eZulwini and surrounding. International volunteers placed in the NCPs for childcare program help read a story to the children every day. This helps develop the children’s literacy skills, concentration, and communication skills. They also help in art lessons and curriculum development.

The after-school homework club program is attended by primary school children between the ages of 10 to 15. They get to be helped with their homework every Monday to Wednesday by volunteers in Math and English. About 36 children get to benefit from this program.
