MAKING LEARNING EASIER FOR THE CHILDREN IN CDM PRIMARY SCHOOL LILA!

Mubi Hills is in the North - Eastern part of Nigeria, in Adamawa State. Since 2017, Keeping It Real (KIR) Foundation has been working with our implementing partner,  CDM Foundation. CDM has been working with the communities in Mubi Hills for over 30 years to provide educational support for children like Gamaliel and Abigail. The focus of this project is to provide educational materials (text books, exercise books, writing materials, storybooks and teaching resources for the schools ), Reading Corners and four classroom blocks that will enable more than 270 primary school children of peasants in Northern Nigeria who have been traumatized by the Boko Haram insurgency and affected by Covid-19 (their school buildings were damaged and education disrupted) to have safe and hygienic spaces to enrol, remain in school, and learn.

In the remote village of Lila, one of the communities in Mubi Hills, the parents of our beneficiaries are peasants who have to do the back breaking work of earning their livelihood in very tough and hilly terrains. Thus, for families in these villages, the African Proverb; “Many hands make light work”, is a lifestyle. The children assist their parents on the farms to help them put food on the table, and this limits the possibility of their going to school.

Yet, fathers like Adios who is a member of the Parents Teachers Association of CDM Primary School Lila want nothing more than to give their children a chance at a better life. However, with the current recession in Nigeria, sending the children to school with writing materials and books has become practically impossible. Nonetheless, with your investment in the 153 children like Gamaliel and Abigail in CDM Primary School Lilia, dear donors, parents like Adios can send and keep their children in school because they now have textbooks and writing materials and are learning in a safe and healthy environment.

Adios is really grateful to you, dear donors, because now  children like Gamaliel  and Abigail and their peers in the Lila community, have been given the opportunity their parents could not give to them and stand the chance of having a better life than their parents. We know that with your sustained investment, we can achieve permanent and positive change in the villages that we work in, as children like Gamaliel and Abigail and their peers become educated and healthy adults that will lead their communities out of poverty and build resilient societies!

We especially thank our recurring donors, whose relentless support has helped us to provide the books!  However, we still need $29,621 to ensure that Gamaliel and Abigail, and their peers in the Lila community, continue to go to school. CDM Primary School Lainde still needs flooring and windows, CDM Secondary School Lila needs solar panels for their computers, and more laptops; and all the schools need educational materials (writing materials, textbooks, and storybooks) and about 100 desks. Kindly consider becoming a recurring donor and donating to our project;  http://bit.ly/2TLI6Bm . Please encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to invest in more children like Gamaliel and Abigail, and their peers in the Lila community to make learning easier for them!
