GlobalGiving Report July 2024
GlobalGiving has been our partner for many years. Gaily helping vulnerable people is possible because of the help given by GlobalGiving. E.A.S.E. Foundation serves vulnerable people; those with disabilities and their families. Disability and poverty are difficult burdens. Our many services help ease these twin burdens.
On the 2nd of April when the world celebrated World Autism Day we gathered our families. A wonderful band of street drama actors performed a couple of scenes highlighting appropriate and inappropriate interactions between people with disabilities and society. They were especially appreciated by our families. Since April is the month we Sri Lankans celebrate New Year, we gave bags filled with dry essential goods and sweet treats to the families.
Treats are all very well, but our first focus is giving an age appropriate education to our students. We presume competence and we know the importance of communication. Since most of our students are non-speaking or minimally speaking, we teach an alternative communication system. Our students and their families benefit greatly from being able to communicate. The joy of finding a “voice” cannot be measured and the benefit to student and family are enormous.
Thanks again to the donors and GlobalGiving for enabling us to do this important and meaningful work.
