Cocoa360, a Ghanaian non-profit established in September 2015 by Dr. Shadrack Osei Frimpong, is a trailblazer in rural development, leveraging our innovative "farm-for-impact" (FFI) model to catalyze sustainable change across cocoa-growing communities. Our mission is to empower Ghana’s 1.6 million cocoa farmers and their families, transforming access to education and healthcare without long-term reliance on foreign aid. Operating in Tarkwa Breman, we’ve built a Centre of Excellence that integrates a tuition-free all-girls school, a community clinic, and over 50 acres of cocoa farms, reaching 35,000 individuals across eight communities with a dedicated 48-member team.
Our approach is rooted in community-driven governance, guided by a Village Committee of local chiefs and opinion leaders, complemented by a facilitating board of seasoned experts. This dual-leadership structure ensures robust stakeholder engagement and local ownership, evidenced by 86% PTA participation and 82% farmer attendance. The Tarkwa Breman Girls’ School educates 360 students with a 97% attendance rate—far exceeding the rural average of 70%—and a 1:30 teacher-student ratio against a norm of 1:87. Meanwhile, our clinic has delivered $2,538,496.50 in healthcare subsidies since 2017, serving 24,303 patients, including 4,725 children, and treating conditions like 10,097 malaria cases and 154 safe deliveries.
In agriculture, our farm has grown from 7.2 to 52 acres, achieving a 1,425% production increase, training 698 farmers in sustainable practices, and distributing 50,000 seedlings post-COVID. Esi, a 42-year-old farmer, embodies our impact: once bound by poverty, she now tends our farm and funds her daughters’ education, declaring, “I farm for their dreams.” With global and Ghanaian recognition, Cocoa360’s replicable model is poised to scale to 30 communities by 2030, expanding healthcare with advanced facilities and building Junior High schools. Your continued support and partnership will accelerate this African-led vision, amplifying a proven framework for resilient, equitable rural development across the continent.
