GG builds confident school girls in Northern Ghana

Yaa smiling during end of Term Exams

It was all joy to many children when the exams began in December 2017. There was no borrowing of pens and pencils. No noise and shouting from teachers because most children had prepared well for the test. Twelve (12) years old Yaa, was smiling always. Not because the examination was easy, but because she was part of the reasons why many other girls were in school this term. She and her friends such as Manan made themselves pear education advocates encouraging their colleague GlobalGiving beneficiaries to learn hard to justify the donations they received. They also spread the good news about school to encourage other girls at home to talk to their parents to send them to school.

But what was so striking was that GlobalGiving beneficiaries showed more confidence during their terminal examination in December 2017 than last year.

According to Yaa, “when you are poor girl and lack many things, you don’t have confidence because you are always afraid that people will talk about your appearance. Therefore, you don’t want to be seen talking in class even if you don’t understand. This was my nature and teachers found me irritating because I was always nervous during class tests and always wished that we did not have to write any exams. However, the donations from GlobalGiving made me very active in class and I am happy because I am sure I will do well in this exams. I will always thank all those who have been supporting us with all these donations”.

We are pleased that your donations have made education more attractive to many parents and children and this has resulted in 60 more children enrolling to school within this quarter. We are confident that your further donations will keep all these children in school. We in Grameen Ghana and the entire Bolni cluster of communities thank you for your generous support.
