#africanangelsboys awarded highschool scholarship

African Angels is delighted to let you know that two (yes two!) of our Grade seven boys have been accepted into the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Scholarship Programme from 2021 for high school at Hudson Park High in East London, South Africa.

Ayola and Lizalise are the first of our learners to be awarded this prestigious scholarship In the midst of such disarray with the covid19 pandemic, we are so pleased that two of our graduating 2020 class have secured such a fine opportunity. The scholarship programme includes school and boarding fees, uniform, mentoring support and holiday camps, to develop the boys' entrepreneurial talents. Both Lizalise and Ayola have been part of our boys mentoring group over the past eighteen months, and have benefitted from regular, weekly mentoring.

#returningtoschool

We are delighted that the Minister of Education has announced 1 June for schools to restart. Our teaching and support team are preparing the school classrooms and property for a phased return of our learners next week.

#globalsupportersraise $1045USD

We are so grateful to one of our past volunteer families who sought donations from their friends and family, in a personally worded email and Facebook appeal, which saw $1045 raised for African Angels. With our exchange rate favoring hard currency, the amount raised will provide nutritious meals for our thirty two hostel girls for four months this year. Our fantastic US fundraisers also setup a recurring monthly donation via GlobalGiving (links below) which will be matched by GlobalGiving. It certainly does take a village to educate our Angels.

#regularmonthlydonors

Thank you to those individuals and families who support us via a small monthly donation. With the covid19 pandemic we are acutely aware of the financial stress people are experiencing. We have worked out that if four hundred people across the globe setup a recurring monthly donation of around $40 (or any amount actually) this will cover our monthly salaries. Salaries are our biggest expense, and the most important, as we strive to provide the best education for our Angels. To date we are 18% to our target of 400 monthly donors. Please consider helping us in any way you can, every month.

Please click on the links below to set up a small monthly recurring donation.

Thank you for being part of our Angels family and joining us in celebrating yet another African Angels success story. #strongertogether #chintsapride #notjustanothercharity @ Cintsa, Eastern Cape, South Africa
