This summer, the Mustard Seed Mission contucted a chellenage camp for 60 children in Taina. In the camp, we provided many activities to children such as field games, tournaments, drama time, small group time, and chellenage games. We hope children’s self-awareness and self-affirmation can be developed through group activities and supportive group and enviornment.
Wayne is raised by his grandfather, his grandfather runs a small and old hostel but doesn’t make lots money. Wayne’s cousin also lives with Wayne and grandfather.
Wayne is a strong boy. He doesn’t show many emotions on his face. He always let people feel he is not a friendly child. In fact, Wayne is a nice boy, he usually helps his grandfather to run the hostel.
Wayne is also good at observation. When he went to Mustard Seed camp, he was the one who always helped team leaders and played a good role in team to warm up the atmosphere. In the camp, he tried to challenge himself to play main role in a drama. In a clown performance event, he was willing to go up on the stage to interact with clown.
In the camp, Wayne has learned to express his moods. Sometimes smile, sometimes laugh out louder, sometimes he was serious while doing tasks. He seems to accept himself more through the camp. It is really a breakthrough to Wayne.
