This project will addresses the needs of 200 people with disabilities from poor families during this difficult period of COVID-19 who living at GAIRO district within Morogoro region. Providing entrepreneurship straining, provision of health protective devices against diseases (like sanitizes, mask, soap, sunburn lotion and hats that will keep skin healthy and protective), providing information about precaution measures of COVID-19 in accessible formats (using sign language and Braille writings).
According to the national disability survey in 2008, 3.2 million Tanzanians (7.8%) of the population aged 7 years and above have some form of disability and up to 5.4 million (13.2%) are affected by disability.Despite of the fact that, many initiatives taken by Government still people with disabilities face different challenges such as access to transport and information, negative attitudes toward them, inaccessibility to public services,even poverty, this project will affect 200 Tanzanians PWDs
TOIL providing information about precautionary measures in accessible formats using sign language and braille writings, providing basic needs like food, shelter and clothes, provision of health protective devices against diseases like sanitizes, mask, soap, sunburn lotion and hats that will keep skin healthy and protective, legal protection, alternative learning program , ensuring our non-traditional way and working, learning, and engaging with each other as our global response to corona virus.
This project will promote and contribute for an effective implementation of the inclusion for 200 people with disabilities in the response to COVID-19 and protection of such group from the negative impacts caused by such pandemic disease; as well as promoting independent living to such group during the crisis of corona virus, through facilitating access to economic empowerment in GAIRO district council within Morogoro region.
