PAAJAF Foundation believes that with awareness creation with regards to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa it can help reduce the high risk of acquisition in neighbouring countries like Ghana where record of Ebola virus is not at all/minimal. PAAJAF works with deprived and underprivileged communities, children, women and families in Ghana and our awareness creation on Ebola will go a very long way to fight EVD acquisition.
Ebola first appeared in 1976 in 2 simultaneous outbreaks, in Nzara, Sudan, and in Yambuku, Democratic Republic of Congo. The latter was in a village situated near the Ebola River, from which the disease takes its name. World health organization (W.H.O) at its headquarters in Geneva, said the number of people who had died in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria had reached 1,229, with 84 new fatalities reported from Aug. 14 to 16, the latest available figures.
PAAJAF through awareness creation and educational campaigns, fliers, visiting schools and communities on the mode of acquisition/transmission and symptoms of Ebola. The campaign will equip the population of Ghana to withstand in case of an outbreak in the future. For instance, the virus is transmitted to people from wild animals and spreads in the human population through human-to-human transmission.
