On September 07, 2017, one of the largest earthquakes during the last years took place in the Coast of Chiapas. It caused damages to thousands of homes and public buildings. It also affected the political, economic and social aspects. This led to a great struggle on communities isolated in rural areas and that are neglected by the Mexican Government.
As a result of this situation, we carried out a series of actions to measure the extent of the damage. We also began with the communities the process of reinforcement and reconstruction of their spaces and educational centers.
We consider that the participation of the communities' population is essential for the decision making, work and coordination of actions aimed at ensuring that children have better spaces worthy to receive classes. For this purpose, on February, the committee of fathers and mothers, community authorities and Impacto inaugurated educational centers in the Coast of Chiapas. In this event, we recognized the work of every person involved in the reconstructions.
However, the reconstruction efforts will continue in the current year. In order to rebuild the social fabric, it is necessary to follow up the needs of these communities. As an NGO, we consider that your donations are of vital importance to solve the problems generated by the earthquake.
