Dear Supporters,

In this very quarter, we were able to welcome our beautiful children at their second home i.e. KDSP to avail one of the most essential services consisting of physical, occupational and speech therapies. The major highlights of this quarter made possible through your continued patronage included:

  • In-person therapy clinics resumed at 50% capacity with 233+ physical, occupational and speech therapy sessions conducted weekly. Some sessions are also virtual given ongoing COVID-19 situation.
  • KDSP presented its paper ‘The Virtual Shift: Early Childhood Intervention Therapies for Pakistani Children with Down Syndrome During COVID-19’ in the 36th Annual Pacific Rim International Conference On Disability & Diversity – Virtual as well as Aga Khan University Hospital’s 23rd National Health Sciences Research Symposium.

Some words from our families and partners:

“I have seen great improvement in Saeed - his walking and grip has improved a lot now that we are coming in physically for therapy”, shared Mother of Saeed

“I have seen greater improvements in Hassan and it is wonderful to connect with the therapists in-person. I feel safe coming to KDSP seeing the strict SOPs that are followed here and the excellent crowd control”, shared Mother of Hassan

“An excellent case study that shows how the Karachi Down Syndrome Program pivoted to providing remote Early Childhood Intervention to children with Down syndrome during COVID-19, using audio and video call tele-therapy in one-on-one sessions” – exclaimed the Chair of Online Learning and Technology, Pacrim ’21

Thank you for all the generous support you have extended in helping us provide early therapies to children with Down syndrome. We look forward to your continued support in helping these children reach their developmental milestones timely!

Love,

Team KDSP
