At Potomac River Clinic, we believe that early identification and diagnosis are essential for every child with hearing loss. Thanks to your support, we've continued to make remarkable strides. We are one of the few diagnostic centers in our region offering Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing for newborns who do not pass their universal newborn hearing screening and one of only a few centers in Washington DC that accept Medicaid.
Since our last update, we've continued to see an increase in referrals for ABR testing. Notably, we’ve been able to keep the average wait time around 8 days, while other local centers often have wait times of more than a month. This critical step in the diagnostic process, which can take over three hours and often requires two audiologists, is made possible by the generosity of our supporters.
Your support has helped us provide these services at no cost to babies without insurance or those facing financial barriers. This work has had a major impact, ensuring timely diagnosis and access to early intervention, which are key to positive long-term outcomes.
We are deeply grateful for your commitment to our mission. Together, we are making a lasting difference for infants and their families.
