Dear AGILE supporters,
I am honored and eager to share with you the heart warming interview we had with our rural women past June 2017 and again on January 31st 2018. AGILE International as an organization founded not only based on my personal experience as a native woman of Mali, but also from the point of view of those whose lives are affected daily by the conditions AGILE’s seeks to remove. We work tirelessly so that access to land, water and electricity is no longer an issue for rural women in Mali and the region of West Africa.
Without the generous support of every one of you, the road to our destination would be rough, painful and very likely impossible. We thank you for your genuine and heartfelt support as well as your energy and guidance. Our women are for ever grateful for your help in reaching our goal at Globalgiving. Please see pictures and messages from some of them.
Since drilling two wells and implementing a drip irrigation system are our most important milestone in expanding AGILE in other communities, the Board of Directors at AGILE has decided to continue strengthening and refining our craft making skills which generates income for AGILE and our women. Last May 2017, AGILE received $3000 from First Congregational Church of Boulder to help train more women to work our newly launched craft division. Since then, we went from 12 purses to acquiring enough materials to produce 300 purses. Our track record shows that there is a market for our beautiful hand made African purses. 100% of all profits from the sales go toward creating improved and larger inventories which in turn are sold and the funds applied toward our goal of $50.000 needed to drill the two wells. This outperforms fair trade.
Thank you for helping build an organization that’s 100% inclusive, that closes gaps including gender gap in communities it serves. Our approach is unique and our model is innovative. This Resource based economy model is scalable, replicable and applicable in any community.
We hope that you would continue to support us take this model to thousands of other communities. It is our calling to help West Africa reach food security and create equity for rural women and a win-win for their communities.
Thank you!
Fatou Doumbia
