The crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo is escalating rapidly. Intense fighting between M23 rebels and government forces in the country's eastern region has left devastation in its wake. Civilians face displacement, food insecurity, and the breakdown of critical infrastructure as the situation worsens daily. We are working with refugee-led organisations on the frontline who are offering critical support to the most vulnerable in their community.
The eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is experiencing one of the world's worst humanitarian crises due to ongoing armed conflicts. The situation has escalated significantly in 2025, with over 4.6 million people displaced within North and South Kivu provinces. Recent clashes between armed groups and government forces have forced more than 400,000 people to flee their homes since January, compounding an already dire situation.
To address the urgent needs of displaced families, we have partnered with refugee-led organisations, like Fountain of Hope, in the region who are delivering emergency relief programmes to vulnerable families focusing on food assistance, access to clean water, and psychosocial support. Food Assistance: Monthly food packages for families of 5, including maize flour, beans, and cooking oil. Clean Water: Household water filters Psychosocial Support: Trauma response workshops
Supporting refugee-led organisations is a more sustainable approach, as they acutely understand the needs of their populations and can quickly adapt their responses to meet the evolving needs of their communities over time. This ensures more effective and long-lasting support for the hundreds of thousands of displaced people in the region.
