Introduction
2024 was a year of both achievements and challenges for UKBET. We exceeded targets despite devastating floods in Sylhet, Noakhali, and Cumilla, which displaced families and pushed many children into labour. UKBET remains committed to tackling these issues through education and child protection initiatives.
Doorstep Learning Programme 2024
Since 2019, UKBET’s Doorstep Learning Programme (DLP) has supported over 1,600 child domestic workers, ensuring access to education. In 2024, 448 children participated (Target: 384), and 181 transitioned to school or vocational training (Target: 128). Family Futures micro-grants helped 280 families reduce dependence on child labour. The programme expanded to marginalised Tea Garden and Bedey communities.
