United World College Costa Rica is awarding 12 full scholarships to exceptional youth from underserved communities in Latin America and Asia. Though these cover tuition & room and board for 2 years, costs such as pocket-money, flights, extra-class tutoring in English and math, and professional emotional support are not covered. By raising an average of $5,000 for each full scholar, we can ensure that all of these 12 teens can accept, begin and maximize their life-changing education at UWC!
These 12 teens are being offered a full scholarship by UWC Costa Rica -$76,000 in value. BUT traveling to another country and catching up to a rigorous program like the IB requires additional costs that their families' can't afford. Totaling the costs for all these student success expenses, we've found that by raising an average of $5,000 for each scholar we ensure that money does not stand in their way of crafting a better life for themselves, their families and their communities.
Though it may seem trivial, as little as $1,000 can prevent these full scholars from arriving at our campus or from achieving their IB diploma. This is why we are calling our parents, alumni, students, and friends to champion the diversity of our community by supporting these 12 students that need our help. By investing $5, $200, $3,000 into these students we can all forever change not only the trajectory of their lives but that of whole communities. Let us say "Don't Let $5K Stop Them!"
By becoming a UWC student, doors of opportunity have been opened. The IB diploma coupled with the unique educational model and mission of UWC is endowed onte each student; it becomes part of their reputation and self-esteem. As empowered agents of change, throughout their personal and professional lives they continue on to develop initiatives that uplift communities through social-enterprises, value-driven leadership, and projects that dignify the conditions of underserved populations.
