Summary: Main objective of the project is to provide accessible reading material in audio format to people with any kind of visual disability (from low vision and complete blindness to people at risk of losing vision with time) from economically backward and marginalized communities to promote education.
As part of it with the support of funds received through GlobalGiving project we are planning to produce 24 audio books in a quarter. We are yet to receive required funds to produce books as per plan.
Activities covered at Mitra Jyothi under the project are listed below: Convert to Audio format and save master audio copy.
Background: Mitra Jyothi is pioneer in producing audio books for persons with print disabilties. This program was started in 1992 based on the experience of Ms Madhu Singhal, Founder and Managing Trustee of Mitra Jyothi. Later we adopted to technology growth and at present producing books in various formats including eText/ePub and convert those to audio files with DAISY format.
