Ajwad: A Life Transformed by Your Support

By Hasan Sadk | Project leader

Dear Donor

We come to you today with a story filled with both pain and hope from the heart of northern Syria. Each time we distribute food baskets, we encounter families with heart-wrenching stories, and one such story is that of the family of the child Ajwad.

Ajwad, a six-year-old boy, is the eldest of his family, living with his mother and three siblings in a simple tent within an informal camp in the village of Kafra, northern Syria. This family, living under harsh conditions, faced a tragedy last year when they lost their father to kidney failure. Due to poverty and the inability to access the necessary medical care, the father passed away, leaving behind four young children, one of whom is an infant, and a sick wife.

Ajwad's mother is now battling breast cancer and struggles daily to provide for her children, despite her urgent need for care and medical attention. She is forced to work from her modest tent, packing baby diapers for a meager wage that is insufficient to meet her family’s basic needs.

Thanks to your generosity and kind donations, we were able to provide this family with a food basket containing essential items such as oil, sugar, tea, bulgur, pasta, rice, lentils, and even some simple toys that brought joy to Ajwad’s siblings. This basket was not just food, but a lifeline for this family, making a significant difference in their lives.

However, our story does not end here. We continue to strive to secure the necessary treatment for Ajwad’s mother, and we hope to receive additional support from generous donors like you to help her in this battle. Every donation contributes to saving her life and providing safety for her four children.

Unfortunately, the humanitarian situation in Syria worsens daily. With the ongoing war in Gaza and renewed conflict in Lebanon, we find ourselves facing a significant shortfall in support for the most vulnerable families in northern Syrian camps. This shortfall is alarming, as many families like Ajwad’s may not find the help they desperately need during this difficult time.

We affirm that your continued support for this project is essential and vital to meet the growing needs of families in northern Syria. Your assistance truly makes a difference and changes many lives.

In conclusion, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed and continues to support this humanitarian project. You are the hope for families like Ajwad’s, and you are the reason for the smiles and safety on the faces of these children.

With sincere appreciation and gratitude
