On Friday 28 March there was a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake in central Myanmar which has killed at least 1,644 people and injured 3,408. The earthquake caused widespread destruction of homes and severe damage to critical infrastructure. Funds are urgently required for: Life-saving search & rescue teams Emergency medical care Safe shelter for families left homeless Clean water, food & basic sanitation restoration of lifesaving essential services
The earthquake has caused widespread destruction of homes and severe damage to critical infrastructure. major bridges, roads, universities, hotels. Thousands of people are homeless and are sleeping on the streets, or trapped in fallen buildings. To date (28th March), over 1,600 are known to have lost their lives and sadly this figure is due to rise. Urgent medical attention and provision of essentials including food, shelter and water are needed.

This latest crisis compounds an already critical humanitarian crisis in Myanmar. Prior to the earthquake, over 19 million people were already in desperate need of food, shelter, medicines following the military coup of 2021.
