For the past year and a half, Missoula Medical Aid has partnered with two regional offices of Save the Children--Honduras (La Esperanza and San Lornezo), and with Manos de Amor, in Sigutepeque to get food to needy families, and agricultural supplies to farmers to grow basic grains. Our relationships with our partners are long and intimate, so for as little as fifty dollars, they can get a monthly supply of food and higiene supplies to a family of four, or fertilizers and supplies to a farm family. We also, through our partners, have helped hundreds of sick people who live in rural areas get rides to the hospital, and helped small groups build or supply rural bakeries. We also fund a dental higiene program that supplies 3000 toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste to rural children, and that uses local dentists to teach the kids how to use them. We also partner with the Lion's Club of La Esperanza to run a dental and eye clinic. The club supplies and manages the clinic, and we pay the part-time salaries of the dentist and eye technicion.
