By Katherine de Kretser | Project Leader
A big thank you for supporting our fundraising campaign in December 2018! Thanks to you, we have raised over $7,000 so far which will fund the basic salaries of 7 members of our care team in 2019.
Why your support is so important
The Infants Home is one of our 4 locations in Sri Lanka and caters to babies and young children with disabilities as well as older people with severe disabilities.
Some of those who live there will require life-long support with personal care and independent activities while others such as Ashu and Poorna have the ability to develop well in these skills. One of our key goals is to promote development and independence in every child and it is the small daily achievements that are an example of our success!
Ashu is currently learning to walk and Poorna is learning to feed himself independently. Our care team support these important developmental milestones as part of the daily routine and this is complemented by our specialist therapy team which consists of two physiotherapists, a speech and language therapist and an occupational therapist.
Your support means that children at the Infants Home such as Ashu and Poorna can develop independent skills that will mean they can reach their full potential!
If you would like to further support our project, you may like to consider setting up a recurring donation. At present, we receive $165 on a monthly basis in recurring donations and we would love to increase this. As you know, to continue providing specialist care, educational opportunities and skills for life, sustainability is key and recurring donations is one of the ways we can secure this. You can set up a recurring donation here:
Also, please don’t forget if you are a UK tax payer, you can select to claim Gift Aid and GlobalGiving will process this on our behalf.
Thank you once again for your support! Do get in touch if you would like any further information.
