Dear Esteemed Partners and Donors,
We are immensely grateful for your steadfast support in advancing digital literacy among children through the Digital Skills and Safety (DASP) initiative. Your unwavering generosity has significantly transformed the lives of public school students, equipping them with essential skills to thrive in the digital era.
With contributions from 70 compassionate supporters like you, we have successfully raised $15,218 towards our goal of $49,800, leaving $34,582 to achieve our target. We remain hopeful and determined to reach this milestone and extend the program’s positive impact to even more students.
So far, the DASP initiative has empowered over 480 students from public and low-fee-paying schools by equipping them with fundamental computer literacy skills. These include starting and shutting down computers, using a mouse and keyboard, navigating software, and saving their work. The students have also been introduced to Microsoft Word and other essential software. Moreover, the program has placed a strong emphasis on safe internet practices, teaching students how to protect their identities online, browse securely, and effectively handle issues like cyberbullying and harassment.
In today’s technology-driven world, computer literacy goes beyond understanding devices. It involves the ability to effectively search for, analyze, organize, and evaluate information for informed decision-making and problem-solving. By fostering these skills, we are giving students the tools to unlock opportunities for personal, academic, and professional growth.
The Digital Access and Safety Project (DASP) focuses on increasing awareness about safe internet usage, protecting identities, and combating online threats like bullying and harassment. The program also enhances critical thinking, enabling students to evaluate online content effectively while exploring the vast opportunities technology offers. Additionally, this initiative inspires students to pursue STEM pathways, nurturing curiosity and practical skills that will prepare them for the future.
Our vision is to raise the remaining $43,400 to bring digital literacy education to at least 1,000 more students. We kindly invite you to continue supporting this impactful program and help us connect with more partners who can contribute to this cause. Your support is invaluable, and we deeply appreciate your generosity. Together, we can create a lasting impact and empower children with the skills they need to succeed.
Thank you for your continued partnership in building a brighter future for the students we serve.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Dr. Itoro Emembolu
