The nomads of Yushu Prefecture in Qinghai Province have very little access to healthcare, and they live hundreds of miles away from proper dental care. A group of dentists from Temple Dental School are donating their time and skills to give these people their beautiful smiles back! Please help us in supporting these communities, which the Pureland Project has been working with for over 13 years, by helping us bring these talented dentists to those in need!
Tibetan nomads in this region have little to no access to health care. After providing the Tibetan medical team with a truck to serve as a mobile clinic, we at The Pureland Project realized that there are many people in need of dental care, which the doctors are unable to provide. A person in Gar village died just a few years ago due to a dental infection. Dental hygiene care and education are both crucial for the health of these communities.
The Temple Dental School will partner with The Pureland Project to offer the dental skills needed to assist these communities. The dentists will take two weeks out of their busy schedules this September to offer much needed dental care to these Tibetan nomadic communities in China. By providing both immediate care and general dental hygiene education, we will make a significant impact on dental health in the region.
Tibetan peoples' bright smiles are iconic, and offering them dental care relieves their suffering in a simple yet effective way in both the short- and long-term. The educational component of the project allows the dentists to share information about dental hygiene with the nomads who, in turn, will ideally adopt better oral hygiene methods using the new toothbrushes, floss, and toothpastes that will be provided through the program.
