Hope for Our Sisters is excited to share some news from the Wellness Clinic in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). With your help, we continue to raise funds to provide life-saving maternal care for women who seek maternal health assistance at this clinic.

We believe it is not enough to simply treat fistula (severe incontinence from obstructed labor or trauma) in developing countries. Organizations need to create opportunities for communities to prevent the circumstances that lead to fistula. Hope for Our Sisters understands that if we take deliberate efforts to address the root causes of fistula and lack of maternal care, we will not only play a role in preventing it, but ensuring the next generation of women leaders are healthy, empowered and free to reach their potential. The Maternal Health Fund in Goma, DRC is a critical component of our overall fistula prevention efforts.

Our partners at the Wellness Clinic informed us that between December of 2018 and February of 2019, 63 cesarean deliveries were provided by way of your generous donations. As a reminder, the fee for a cesarean delivery at the clinic is $120 USD. This cost is simply out of reach for many people living in developing nations. Of the women who needed surgical deliveries, 39 could make partial payments and 24 could pay nothing at all. Our fund ensures that all women coming to the clinic who are in need of life-saving maternal health care can receive the care they and their unborn children require.

Thank you for partnering with us to give these women and their babies the best possible outcome. As we work toward a day when life-saving maternal care is readily available to more and more women and their babies, we will provide a way for them to access the care they need today. We are honored to partner with these beautiful women as we pursue hope and health.

Generating hope, one woman at a time!
