Dear donors,
Greetings from Bangalore Baptist Hospital.
Our hearts go out to you for your continued support. Thank you.
Madurappa's smile today is thanks to your support. Amputations from accidents, diabetes complications, or snake bites often leave people unable to work or attend school, making them feel invisible. But amputation doesn't have to mean disability. With access to prosthetic care, people can lead independent lives. Sadly, many live in remote areas with limited transport, making hospital visits difficult. Your help changes lives, just like it did for Madurappa.
While working in his garden, Madurappa didn't see the snake that bit him. Though he survived, the infected wound led to a below-the-knee amputation. "Many of our patients are at the end of their rope, living in despair—Maddurappa was no different. His once active life became dormant, and he was depressed," shared one of our healthcare workers. We provided him with a walking stick, an artificial limb, and a modified restroom. Now, Maddurappa walks two kilometres in the fields daily, enjoying life again. "He is very happy now," says his wife.
Harish was only 21 when an accident changed his life. He had to give up his job as a technician because travelling became difficult after surgery. Using the restroom at home was also a challenge. When his parents approached us, we built a modified restroom for him. "I feel so comfortable now. I no longer depend on my parents," says Harish, who now works from home repairing liquidizers and TV dish antennas. "We are so relieved," his mother shares.
Our Prosthetic Unit travels to rural villages, helping people affected by accidents, falls, or snake bites. Without such services, many remain stuck. We cover long distances, sometimes walking great lengths to reach their homes, but it's all worth it for their smiles.
And you have been instrumental in these transformations.
Thank you for your support. We hope you will continue to help us provide care to those in need.
Gratefully,
Carol
