Dear donors
Greetings from Bangalore Baptist Hospital Society.
Thank you for your support to persons with disabilities. Your thoughts and commitment go a long way in reshaping and adding vibrancy in their life.
Charan's story isn't one of despair; rather, it's a celebration. Please read the story.
“My mother has been my biggest inspiration from day one,” Charan says with a smile. 27-year old Charan was born with severe deformity. From undergoing more than seven surgeries to missing much fun of what a child would have, Charan has withstood all with vigour and a smile. His mother, who has been a strong supporter in his life, has ensured that he becomes an independent person. From helping him continue his studies to backing him learning to ride, she's a winner.
Charan's life was going great. But he missed something—an experience where he can earn and be independent even if it's something minuscule. When Charan met our healthcare worker during a healthcare camp, he expressed his idea.
As an initial step, we helped Charan access governmental entitlements such as disability card, a monthly pension and a wheelchair.
From then on, Charan's life changed. Charan sells mobile recharge packages for different service providers. "It gives me so much joy, doing something on my own. I feel my worth now," revealed Charan. Financial support from us to kick-start this small venture has given so much of hope not only Charan but his parents too. The neighbours who know Charan's status, ensure they stand by him and take an extra mile to spread the news to others too.
During a recent fundraising event, we managed to get Charan an airbed which is giving him the comfort; Charan is on the bed most of the time.
Charan's mother is proud that all her efforts are yielding results. She always wanted him to be independent. She admits in the beginning, it was complicated, but over the years, Charan has given a purpose to her life.
It's great that you are part of this heart-warming mission that reaches out to persons with disabilities who would otherwise be excluded. You will be happy to learn that with your support, along with Charan, we have been able to:
It’s your thoughtfulness that is helping us to deliver the care and compassion to the poor and persons living with a disability. All this would not have been possible without your support. Thank you. Would you also please share this report with your friends and family members who, like you, will be inspired to support this cause?
With gratitude,
Carolin George
