Your Gifts to Darfur in 2024 - And Plans for 2025

Distributing Kids Kitchen Kits to Children
Distributing Kids Kitchen Kits to Children

It has been nearly two years since conflict erupted in April 2023, creating one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history. There is famine declared in five regions of Sudan and acute malnutrition throughout. Cuts to aid budgets have devastated the little help that Sudanese refugees were getting, stripping away critical support just when it is needed most. But whilst international aid has been struggling to get through, Kids for Kids has continued to act.

Thanks to your incredible support, we have already reached 49 of our 110 communities through our Emergency Appeal, delivering an astonishing 11,276 Kids Kitchen Kits - bringing nourishment and hope to thousands of children. These Kits provide essential nutrition and protein – lentils, pulses, powdered meat, ground nuts – to children aged 5 and under. Despite the trauma to their own families, our community volunteers are continuing to extend our help to the poorest in each community. Their needs are huge. Our 2024 Achievements Document (attached below) details the life-changing aid we have been able to provide in recent months.

In our 110 villages, our sustainable projects over the years have made these communities the most stable in Darfur - and these remain our long-term aim for new villages. We know their value in transforming children’s lives. As soon as security and circumstances allow, we will extend our help to as many families possible. We may not be able to implement some of the projects immediately – for example extended training for new midwives is likely to take time - but your donation now will make sure we are ready to resume our long-term life-changing support so families can recover from this traumatic time as soon as it is feasible – and safe for our volunteers. Please choose where you would like your help to go – whether it is goats and donkeys, or health care for children and animals. See our Gift List.

Our Founder and CEO, Patricia Parker OBE, and Trustee Alastair King-Smith have recently returned from Programme Meetings in Cairo meeting with our team—Hassan, Hatim, and Yassir— where they were able to plan the next phase of our support, both emergency and long term sustainable projects, including the provision of seed. It is essential families have a harvest to help them grow their own crops to feed their families.

With your continued backing, we can plan for the future and ensure no village is left behind, and we can respond when they call for urgent help to feed their children. Thank you for being part of this journey with us, and helping children that are continuously being forgotten by the international community. Your kindness and commitment mean everything to the families we serve.
