This year, Kids for Kids has been able to adopt five villages, bringing the total number of villages that receive our package of sustainable help, to 70. We know in our villages there will be no malnutrition. But what about the others? Because malnourished children succumb rapidly to even minor infections, and because so many died from malaria last year, we have provided mosquito nets to children in 13 other villages. But it is not enough. Darfur is huge, the size of France, and we are only able to help a fraction of those who are in such desperate need. We need more help.
Our mosquito nets are vital as the rains have now started. The children are weak through malnutrition and the onslaught of mosquitoes bought about by the rains mean that they easily succumb to infections if bitten. As the winter months draw in, our blankets ensure that families can stay warm at night and prevent chest infections. The cost is just £25 but the protection they offer - priceless.
As we head towards the Festive Season, please consider adding mosquito nets, blankets, donkeys and goats to your Christmas lists so that children in Darfur will have a gift too.
Thank you for your support.
