Greetings from Kibera Ballet Dancers. We want to say thank you to our donors; both individuals and corporations who made the work possible. Thank you for believing in the difference dance can make and for supporting our efforts to build a proper dance floor for the kibera ballet dancers.
Our campaign: Dance Floor for Kibera Ballet Dancers was successful with a lot of people showing support and donating for the cause. We held our annual performance on 14th December in Kibera where our Kibera Ballet Dancers did a wonderful peformance to the audience to show the unseen side of the slums and the potential that these children have despite their harsh living conditions. The annual performance also served as a fundraiser to help reach our target for the dance floor project and to also get word out there on what we do by getting people who support us come to Kibera to see for themselves the beauty of the slums.
Plans are currently underway to build a temporary moveable dance floor in our center here in Kibera. Temporary because we're currently on a rented space and want to be able to move with the floor when we relocate to our own space. We've identified suppliers, contractors and designers for the new dance floor. We plan to start construction towards the end of January and we hope it's going to take approximately one month to get everything in order and to complete the construction. We will share photos of before and after.
Lastly we want to thank you all for your support. We will now be able to fulfill our mission and to nurture a community of young ballet dancers from the slums by providing a better training facility.
