Dear our sponsors and whom it may concern,
In June 2017, the project "Daily School Milk for 300 Poor Children in Vietnam" was officially launched on Global Giving platform with the desire to connect resources around the world to improve the malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies of poor children.
The project has received the attention and support of many individuals in Vietnam and internationally. As of June 30, 2019, the project has received $7,574.53 via Global Giving platform. In addition, the project also held an offline fundraising event on October 22, 2017 in Hanoi with more than 3,000 participants. Through this event, the project received a total grant of $16,601. With a total fund of $24,175.53, VSF donated 88,000 glasses of school milk to poor children in Quy Hop district.
According to the evaluation report of the local authorities, the health of the beneficiary children has improved significantly compared to before drinking milk, such as the child has a good growth in height and weight, less illness, and malnutrition rate decreases, etc.
Here are some specific sharing from local authorities and beneficiary families:
- “I loves going to school, even when I am sick because going to school means drinking milk” – A 4-year-old boy in Chau Cuong commune, Quy Hop district said. His mother said “My family is very poor and often only eats vegetables. Thanks to the school milk program, Chieu is no longer lack of nutrients; thus, he has enough energy to go to school and play with friends.”
- VVQ, a student of Grade 4, Thai Quang village, Chau Thai commune, Quy Hop district, whose mother died from an early age, said: "I am very happy to go to school and can drink school milk. Previously, my family often had to fast for breakfast, dinner was not enough sometimes. My family only has one meal with omelet for the whole week. I hope all the poor children will receive nutritional support as we do. "
- Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, said: “We appreciate the efforts of VSF in increasing the opportunity to drink school milk for poor children”
In the 2019-2020 school year, the government of Nghe An province has announced to stop the implementation of a school milk program across the province in order to evaluate the results and develop the next plan. Therefore, VSF has just decided to close this project.
The raised funds from July 1 (USD 700) so far will be transferred to the new project that VSF will submit in September. It is a project calling for funding to donate fresh milk to children with serious diseases. The deployment site will be nationwide. Quarterly, VSF will organize milk giving activities for these children.
Thank you all for your interest and support. We pledge to continue to be an effective and reputable charity foundation in Vietnam
Best regards,
