Women are under represented in the mapping community. This is compounded by the fact that rural Tannzanian womem are less likely than men to have a smart phone or regular internet access.
We've worked hard to include more women in our mapping, and when we have had funds available to equip them with phones and data.
Women like Maria are passionate mappers. "Adding the important places in our village is vital because it means people can find us easily, and we exist" FGM and child marriage is still a problem in our village so if the police gender desk know where the safe places are they can find and rescue girls quickly, even at night".
So we're continuing to support women like Maria to map under mapped rural Tanzania.
Thank you for your support.
