This project will create, in Gressier (South of the capital Port-au-Prince), an amusement park for children traumatized by gang warfare in the Haitian capital and the permanent political unrest in the country.
In the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, there is almost no place where children are having fun. Traumatized by all sorts of untoward events linked to gang warfare and organized crime, deprived of leisure, the children live cloistered at home. Our organization intends to build an amusement park in Gressier (south of Port-au-Prince) which offers them the opportunity to fully enjoy a fulfilled child's life, despite the violence linked to misery and incessant political quarrels.
The amusement park will provide children with play materials such as trampolines, inflatable pools, bouncy castles, slides, table football, as well as playgrounds (baseball, basketball, badminton, etc.). Many toys will be made available to them: carts, educational games, video games, etc. We will teach them different games of Haitian or foreign origin. Shows will also be organized for families.
The amusement park receives one hundred children a day from 3 to 17 years old, from all over the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince and the Palms Region (Gressier, Leogane, Grand-Goave and Petit-Goave). The entertainment provided creates a sense of well-being in children which allows them to have a more positive relationship with life and will contribute to those removed from delinquency. Which will contribute, on a larger scale, to the reduction of violence and crime in communities
