Job Creation from 2015 Leads to New Jobs in 2016

Dear Amazing Leadership Initiatives Supporter,

I am thrilled to let you know that the businesses you sponsored in 2015 have now begun the process of community re-investment. Not only have 6 of the 16 businesses you sponsored to receive business and skills training in 2016 fully repaid back their loans to local investors but 2 of those businesses are now funding the creation of new businesses within their surrounding communities.

This is an astonishing success that could not have been possible without your support. I am now honored to introduce Tukur and his mobile phone repair business.

Business Type: Mobile Phones Repairs

Business Owner: Tukur

Location: Wunti Market Bauchi

Business Production Capacity: 5-8 phones a day

Number of People Employed: 2

People Directly Benefiting from the Business: 5

Employees’ Children who are attending school: 1

Business Goals: To provide cost effective and efficient phone repair services for the members of the community and to train other young men in phone repairs, as well.

About The Business: Tukur began to learn how to repair phones just after his secondary school education while waiting to get admission into the university. He learned from a friend and has used his skill to repair numerous phones for many people who could not have afforded to repair their phones in other communities. Tukur gives members of his community special considerations. He has been in the Mobile Phone repairs for 2 years now and has been able to help members of his family and some young boys with the skill he has learned and the income he has made over time.

Community Impact: Members of Tukur’s community have enjoyed subsidized prices for their phone repairs. Tukur has been able to contribute to the upkeep of his siblings and ease the burden off of his parents. 4 young boys have also learned how to repair mobile phones and have been able to give back to their families and communities because of Tukur’s business.

About The Owner: Tukur is a 23 year old young man who has always loved to be independent. When he completed his secondary school education, his parents could not afford to pay for his university education, but Tukur never allowed that weigh him down. He heard that a friend of his had begun repairing mobile phones and Turkur immediately joined him to learn. He became very good at it within 3 months. Tukur has been repairing phones for about 2 years now and he has become a favourite in his community. He has also been able to save up enough money to finance his higher education and help his parents with some of his siblings’ education.

This business is possible through Hamza and Umar whose are now investing within their community to make new opportunities and advances possible and owe much of their success to your support.

Job Growth Continues to Speed Ahead

Hamza Hard At Work

Dear Valued Donor,

Your support over the past few years has resulted in phenomenal job growth in regions across the world. While Leadership Initiatives seeks to empower individuals to start their own businesses, the ultimate impact lies in creating jobs; only with more individuals in the workforce can the symptoms of poverty be overcome.

In this letter, Leadership Initiatives would like to take the time to show you the fruits of your efforts; the significant investments that you have placed in improving the lives of others have produced astounding results in creating jobs and empowering many hard working individuals. With a stable source of income, many of the individuals working with Leadership Initiatives have found a way to support their families as well as their communities. These are some of their stories.

Mahmood Alhassan has been working with Rabiu, the owner of an electrical repair shop, for approximately ten years; he is one of the employees of Rabiu’s most skilled employees and has been of tremendous help to Rabiu. As a child, Mahmood’s father brought him to learn how to perform electrical repairs; it was no surprise, when Mahmood found employment at Rabiu’s business where he could hone the skills his father had taught him. After years of work, Mahmood has become an invaluable asset for Rabiu’s business; he is one of the few employees that can finish skilled repair jobs without oversight. Moreover, in working at the electrical repair shop, Mahmood has found a means of supporting his family and learning specialized skills that will allow him to prosper in the future.

Hamza Kabiru is another young employee who works for Danliti, owner of the shoemaking shop. As a child, his parents were unable to support him through school; he started working for Danliti in order to take charge of his own education. About 8 months after, he had made enough to be able to return to school. Today Hamza is in high school; known as one of the most skilled employee at the shop, Hamza works hard to earn money to help his parents provide for his siblings.

Yet another hard working employee is Hamza Musa; originally from the Jigawa state, he came to Bauchi in search of more opportunities and a better life. His life took a turn for the better when he met Sani, owner of a local fish farm. Hamza and his family have benefited tremendously from the fish farm; the family is so involved with the farming process that his wives and children even know when and how to feed the fishes. Hamza’s salary is directly invested in his family and his helped him put all of his children through school. His hard work serves as a testament to the fact that a brighter future is available to anyone determined enough to get it.

Because of you, there are more jobs, orphans cared for, and opportunities for communities in Nigeria. Without your involvement, Leadership Initiatives would not have grown into what it is today. Jobs Created Because Of You

Dear Dedicated Leadership Initiatives Supporter,

I am honored to write you this email and thank you from the bottom of my heart. 2015 was perhaps our greatest and most challenging year. The Nigerian elections coupled with the Boko Haram unrest caused our programs to be delayed and many of our business owners to be unsure of their futures.

Because of your dedication, your heart and most of all your support we have come out of this spring and summer a more cohesive and stronger organization. Because of all of your actions we were able to come together as a family and support all of our brothers and sisters in their time of need.
Let me highlight the community impact of one business you helped survive this difficult time. Elizabeth owns a mobile tailoring/textile shop. Her business has contributed to the community by allowing people to express their creativity with materials and designs while still maintaining some of the more traditional cultural styles.

Elizabeth also stands out among her community as a leader by hiring young women and encouraging them to become leaders.

Her success has shown women how they can take charge of their lives and support their community. She also showcases young women and men who attend school and have been taken in by her and her employees.

This has resulted in additional attention and support, and has encouraged other business owners to participate in the Orphan Care program so that one day these children can provide for themselves and their families.

Once again none of this would have been possible without you.
