The Syrian Expatriate Medical Association (SEMA) took the initiative to establish three isolation hospitals in one of the most crowded geographic areas. The three centers are located in Idleb city in “Carelton” building, in Kafr Takhareem and in Jisr Ash-Shugur towns.
When the first infections were recorded in north of Syria, these hospitals began to conduct the special laboratory tests to identify the novel virus, COVID-19, isolate the suspected cases and manage the confirmed cases.
The community health teams showed an outstanding performance while working to increase the community awareness on the spread of the virus and on how to avoid it. Further, the importance of accurate information, away from the media, to protect the lives cannot be denied.
Total number of beneficiaries of the three isolation centers reached 222 patients in last May while more than 1000 beneficiarieshave been reached with the facilities’ services since the beginning of 2021. We have a long record of recovery stories of elderly people suffering from chronic diseases.
Your full awareness of the seriousness of the situation and your unique humanitarian commitment towards such a global dilemma have supported the resilience of the local communities in the face of the pandemic and reduced the number of infections to record levels, especially when those war-affected people have been the most impacted groups by the pandemic at the global level.
Our campaign will continue until the curtain is brought down on one of the most severe sessions in humanity and until this virus is defeated.
