The proposed intervention is aimed at distributing 3,300 Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kits,5,000 sanitizers and 5,000 masks in four rural municipalities of Nuwakot district of Nepal. The potential beneficiates/recipients of RDT are persons who have come from abroad, health worker,labor and corona infection . The NGO will mobilize its youths who are trained in social mobilization and leadership issues and are preassembly involved in distributing relief packages at adjoining district (Kathmandu).
As of now (May 27, 2020), Corona virus (Covid-19) has infected 886 peoples) out of 58,277 PCR tested) in Nepal from 44 districts including Nuwakot and claimed four deaths. As many as 100,,287 people have undergone RDT, 30,305 are in quarantine, 699 in isolation. Out of infected people, 183 have been cured and have gone home. The situation is expected to become worse in the future if flow of migrant workers from India and third countries is not properly managed.
In order to resolve above mentioned issues, community peoples' level of knowledge on Corona virus (Covid-19) will be enhanced especially on how to protect from getting infected and loss of employment, income, production etc. caused by lockdown. Key activities will focus on preventive measures such as RDT test, use of masks and sanitizers and social distancing measures, curative/supportive measures to facilitate the victims of lock down and corona virus infection .
Implementation of proposed intervention will have positive long term implications in a number of ways. Firstly, it will create trained, experienced, dedicated human resources (health personnel/workers, security forces, educationalists, social mobilizes) in dealing with any situation caused by Corona virus. This will be an asset of the nation. Secondly, commodity supports (RDT kits, masks, sanitizers etc.) and awareness creation activities will protect the youths/labor forces from infection.
