Our kids in the slums of Nairobi are back to school after the Christmas break, and we're starting the new year with important goals to achieve.
We're keeping our focus on the children's health, as the pandemic hasn't left the country and only 8.4% of the population is completely vaccinated. We're trying our best to understand what we can do on this matter, thanks to the partnership with one of Nairobi's best hospitals, Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital.
Here, we've also started to welcome the children inside the Pediatric Dentistry Unit, opened thanks to the contribution of the Chimenti family, where our children receive high quality care and are taught about oral hygiene. This is often neglected due to the lack of toilets in the shacks and the limited availability of drinking water in the slums.
Some of our children suffer from oral pathologies, and their families don't have the means to provide them with proper care. Thanks to the Pediatric Unit, the kids can talk to our nurse inside the schools and she refers them to the Dentist for a consult. In case an intervention is needed, we take care of it together with the parents, who often receive treatment themselves.
This marks another important step for our health projects, as our kids well-being must also comes with a good smile!
Thank you so much for your support, without you none of this could be possible.
Don't forget to spread the word and share our projects with friends, family and colleagues, together we can keep achieving great goals for our children in Nairobi slums.
