ChildHelp will provide emergency food, essential items, seeds and tools to over 847 vulnerable street children, affected by the corona-virus, lock-downs and State of Emergency in our impoverished communities. These communities have no source of income, food and garden kits to grow crops. Local teachers will work to deliver materials to school children, to continue their learning process at home, and to provide gardening seeds and tools to marginalized older street children to grow crops.
The impact of the virus on these communities has been severe. ChildHelp's Social Workers visited communities under lock-downs and shared the situation of street children we serve are going hungry. Due to the lock-downs, communities have no work, no savings, no food and hygiene facilities. Girls with teenage pregnancies and in child marriage homes, widows and abandoned women are suffering and hungry. Hunger will increase
ChildHelp plans to work with local grocery stores to set up a voucher system where street children, can go and redeem these vouchers to fill their critical food, seeds and tools, hygiene (Corona virus measures), medication and school supply needs. The local stores will report back to us on items purchased and and photos via Whats-app of their purchase made. These supplies will ensure that children in the street, receive the nourishment, seeds, tool and health items.
ChildHelp has presence in these communities throughout the year, empowering individuals and families to be lifted out of poverty. The street children will be fed and supported with seeds and tools to make commercialized gardens to grow food during the imposed lock-downs, State of emergency, at their homes and backyards. This will supply them with the food they need daily.
