Providing food parcels to a 1000 vulnerable families of the preschool children SPES Charity support. The families live in the poorest area of Windhoek, Namibia. These children grow up in circumstances shadowed by multidimensional poverty, hopelessness, abuse, and neglect and with the impact of the Corona Virus this has put even more pressure on the minimal resources and support that they have.
During this time, all aspects of our civilization are impacted by the Corona Virus, bringing about a new level of needs and challenges. Especially in the informal settlements where the children, families and preschools are situated who are supported by S.P.E.S Charity. These children grow up in circumstances shadowed by multidimensional poverty, hopelessness, abuse, and neglect and with the impact of the Corona Virus this has put even more pressure on the minimal resources and support they have.
In this new season of uncertainty S.P.E.S Charity started a COVID-19 Relief fund specifically to support the children, families, and preschool teachers that are part of their program. This fund aims to provide in the basic needs of the children, teachers, and their families through delivering monthly food parcels. The teachers and the families of the children do not have any income at the moment and are suffering greatly.
Through this support a 1000 families who are the most vulnerable in our community will be supported with a food parcel monthly during a very challenging time of no income. This will help sustain the families for a period until the schools reopen and children can receive a healthy meal at school again. Educational booklets are provided to the parents together with the food parcel to help the children with continued education during this time.
