Thank you so much for your support of this project. I’m writing to share some updates from ActionAid’s emergency response for Covid-19 Relief for Brazil, Colombia and Bolivia. We appreciate you taking the time to learn about and act in response to this crisis.
The pandemic is not over. As variants continue to affect countries around the world, many more lives and livelihoods are at stake.
Covid-19 has destroyed the livelihoods of many of the world’s most vulnerable people, especially in Brazil. The majority of those affected are women who were working in informal and insecure employment, often the first jobs to be cut in a crisis.
But we know that long-term recovery – like rebuilding and restoring livelihoods - requires long-lasting change. Thanks to your commitment, we’ve been able support communities with an eye towards the future. In the Folha Largo community in São João do Arrail, for example, ActionAid installed a 5,000-liter water tank to benefit 150 people and their families. Access to a reliable water source means that families will no longer have to worry about where to find water to drink, cook with, wash with, and farm with, as they work to build back their lives.
Even as the pandemic continues to evolve, your commitment to human rights matters. Thank you for your support.
