In response to the COVID-19 pandemic many support services our youth were accustomed to ceased operations. SOAR was able to maintain contact with our community partners, youth and families, & referring agencies, pivoting our programming to a virtual platform, & connecting with our youth 1-on-1 & as a community. We have supported our families with household needs such as cleaning supplies, toiletries & hygiene needs, paper products, & resources for monetary or technological support & assistance.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic many support services our youth were accustomed to ceased operations. SOAR needs support to assist our families with COVID-19 recovery, like household needs such as cleaning supplies, toiletries & hygiene needs, paper products, masks, gloves, & resources for monetary or technological support & assistance.
Our virtual platform offers weekly community service events (in English & Spanish) where our youth connect with the Denver Metro community. We are also able to sustain some of our regular activities such as our substance use and healthy relationships workshops (in English & Spanish), dance, athletic & junior coaches training, music, boxing, and our new MyIntent program.
SOAR will provide services that guide 220 youth & families toward successful future endeavors and encourage them to stay focused regardless of unfavorable influences or circumstances. We aim to encourage positive peer relationships and help adolescents identify triggers that precede incidents that create negative consequences, encourage positive coping skills, and help enhance their intrinsic core values.
