How are you?
In the times we find ourselves, this question is loaded. Simply saying- "I’m well thanks" is undoubtedly a choice to avoid a much longer conversation. The world around us has changed drastically and while some things are getting back to normal anything that we term normal, is certainly a new normal.
The people of Tarkwa Breman, to whom you so generously donated you hard earned resources, are settling into this new normal as well. We've very fortunately not recorded any cases of COVID-19 within the community and we couldn't be more grateful. We at Cocoa360 take some credit for this. We believe our Cocoa360 Covid-19 Preparedness and Outbreak Prevention Plan (CoCoPOPP) has made an impact.
Your generous donations, and institutional resources, applied toward the training of our front liners, procurement and distribution of PPE, and the targeted one-on-one education across the 8 remote villages that we serve, has equipped our constituents with the knowledge they need to make the most informed decisions about their health and the safety of their friends and family.
We believe that the strong sense of communality that is central to the ethos of these communities is what has ultimately made the biggest difference. While we equipped them with the knowledge about the virus and the threat that it poses to them, the choice to act in the best interest of the collective by taking the recommended precautions is inherent to their sense of community and oneness. We are honored to be a part of this community.
With your generous donations, we trained 15 community elected front-liners who travelled, often on foot over several hours, to the deep remote villages that form our catchment area. They shared information about proper hand-washing techniques, the use of masks and other PPE, transmission and prevention data, and steps to take if anyone appeared to be infected. We provided well equipped hand-washing stations and distributed soap and sanitizers to over 1000 households.
We're doing well, thank you. We could be better. Having a reliable means of transportation to get our front-liners into the hinterlands would make a world of difference. It would mean that we can significantly increase the number of follow-up visits we can make, and increase the availability of PPE like sanitizers and masks. If we do end up with a positive case, having reliable transportation will ensure that we can get to them more quickly and get them the help they need.
Thank you for your incredibly generous donation. We are so grateful and we'd appreciate it if you would consider making your donation recurring or share our project with a friend to help us meet the project target which will permit us to purchase a couple of motorized tricycles.
If you'd like to tell us how you are doing, we'd love to hear from you. Drop us a note, at info@cocoa360.org.
