Support for the bereaved and confused

We continue to meet new and old clients in Athlone and Galway.  Often the people we meet have survived abuse and are having difficulty in finding purpose in life and to move forward.  Others struggle with their day to day existence, uncertain of relationships or how to cope with difficult life incidents and want to escape or bring an end to the noise in their heads. They find it a solace to speak to someone who will not over react, or be afraid of their fears and who are committed to creating a safe space for them to talk through their irrational thinking patterns.

Hope Trust counsellors are trained to walk alongside those who are struggling.  They are also committed to praying for clients outside of their counselling time, or with them if they request it.  It is a consolation to know that God cares for those who are struggling.

During February we in Hope are creating a platform where people who want to join us in prayer for those who are either struggling with suicidal thinking, or have been affected by the loss of someone to suicide.  We will meet regularly on the Shannon Bridge in Athlone to pray and will welcome any who would like to join us.  Despite the fact that many are more informed in these days and that much has been done to address the stigma of suicide, the suicide rate in the Midlands of Ireland is still too high.    There are increasing numbers of young people who are self -harming as well. We are determined to work towards seeing that change.

  • We intend to run a closed support group for family and friends who have lost loved ones to suicide from April in Athlone.
  • We are also offering four separate one day workshops intended to help equip people to care for those struggling with suicidal thinking.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our charity - you are making a difference in the lives of people affected here in Ireland.

God bless you!
