Project Report | Jul 3, 2023
Hello again!

By Mita Radhakrishnan | Project Leader and Eternal Idealis

Dear all,

Much has happened since we wrote last (October 2021).  During this period, our project on GlobalGiving went unsearchable, but we are very happy to say that we are back again, and we are very grateful to all of you who continued to donate to us, especially those from VMWare Foundation.  Many of you have given to us at an organisational level, which is great.  Thank you for your confidence in us! The accumulated monies have very recently been transferred to us.

The most important thing to report is that the building still remains cool inside in spite of searing heat reaching almost 40 degrees Celsius. People continue to breathe a sigh of relief when they enter our building. The fact that the building does not use Air-Conditioning and that we manage with fans alone, and sometimes, even without fans, in this extreme heat, is really remarkable!  It is truly an example for the whole world!

A major step forward is that we were able to lay limestone tiles for our upstairs corridor.  We also finished our First Floor to Second Floor staircase. We covered our roof with a structure on the North, North-East and part of the North-West, to protect from rain.  The probiotic roofing repair work mentioned last time, continued. The floors of the two balconies were also tiled. Cupboard-making continued for the different classrooms.  We had to replace the batteries of our solar system after 5 years, and we were able to make staggered, interest-free payments over the last year.  We moved our solar panels onto the inner courtyard curved roof, and also managed to get our monitoring device to work.  Now we are regularly monitoring the performance of our solar system.

Our goal this year is to finish the outlet shafts, remaining inlet shafts, and, hopefully, the cooling towers.  This would complete the cooling system and make the building even more remarkable.

The Lab is continuing to receive students from Auroville and environs and Pondy, for different languages; the multi-national classes enable cross-cultural interaction which is so precious and so crucial to Auroville's goals.

We've had wonderful results with our Tomatis work; esp for children on the Autism spectrum.  People continue to come to us by word of mouth without any advertising on our part. We've had several very heartening transformational stories.  Very recently, we've had marvelous information from 3 different kids we had worked with several years ago.  Children who had enormous difficulties to learn, to read and write, to communicate, kids with either ADHD or on the autism spectrum, some with developmental delays too, when we started to work with them.  Do have a look at that attached PDF to see where they are now in their growth!

We are blessed to do this work and to have so many such stories.   Our building is the base for this work, and several people have commented on the special healing atmosphere in the building.

We have many projects en route, including a fabulous book on the Tomatis method written by our German friends and colleagues, and several other publications.

We have a plan to digitize our huge collection of rare and precious documents given to us by Mrs. Lena Tomatis, the wife of Dr. Alfred Tomatis, as well as the years and years of consultation notes which painstakingly document the progress of the children and adults on the program.  We'll need a special scanner for that.

We invite you to continue supporting our work and to participate in the upcoming July 12th Bonus Day on GlobalGiving.

There will be a very special match for all donations above $100, the higher the donation, the higher the match! This will allow you to amplify the impact of your donation.

Warmly, and all the best,
Mita
