We are grateful and express our sincere appreciation to our donors for putting excitement and hope to these vulnerable school going children of our rural communities with the donations received so far from GlobalGiving. This has given us the opportunity to start something although far from the targeted budget. Thanks to the funds raised so far through your generosity, RUPFA has started something meaningful which will go a long way to bring a transformation.
So far the project has already started with 5 key activities below
Launching of the project:The Project was launched by Rural Urban Partnership for Africa (RUPFA) as well as GlobalGiving although not represented physically on the Thursday 7th March 2024.
Community Sensitization: The community members and stakeholders have been engaged especially the women. Sensitization is ongoing. We made emphasis on globalgiving partnership and contribution from the donors and that after the successful completion of the project there will be the need of appreciating any person(s)/individual(s) who mastered the courage to DONATE more or SHOWED more commitment to the project.
Land Clearing: The land for the site saw clearing with the involvement of hired labor and some committed community members both males and females dominantly the youth in both communities. Activities involved Stamps removal, tree cutting and burning to make way for space for the cutting of the blocks and actual construction of the school blocks.
Purchasing of Items:
Tools - We made a purchase of Constructional materials such as wheelbarrows, head pans, pickaxes, shovels, trowels, measuring tapes purposely for the project.
Materials - So far we have purchased over 30 bags of cements for the start. Transported it from the source to the community and handed over to the School Building Project Committee (SBPC) on Friday 8th march 2024.
Cutting of Blocks: We have been able to cut 956 blocks so far and we hope to do more as and when we get more funds coming. We have only achieved small percentage and more work ahead to be done.
