AMS Continues to Exceed Global Standards!

By Dr. Pasquine N. Ogunsanya | Executive Director and Founder

With the start of 2016, AMS has been busy evaluating our work over the previous year and setting an ambitious set of goals to guide our work for the coming year. To conduct a complete evaluation of our comprehensive services, we look at both data and client feedback (collected through our in-depth client satisfaction survey).

Our evaluation has confirmed that we continue to be on the right path and a leading clinic in the global fight against HIV/AIDS!

With your support, AMS has continued to combine free high quality, comprehensive HIV/AIDS care, integrated with health, economic and social empowerment services. This holistic approach to HIV care allows us to meet client needs and provide valuable incentives that help keep patients in care. Our service provision model has made AMS a top performing HIV clinic. In fact, we are already meeting and exceeding the global HIV care targets for 2020 (as set by UNAIDS)!

This means that AMS is using our client-based, comprehensive service model to lead the way!

Comprehensive services allow AMS to:

  1. Attract more people to the clinic for voluntary HIV counselling and testing. This means that more people living with HIV will know their status.
  2. Retain more people living with HIV in care, treatment and services. Providing a comprehensive range of services based on client needs means that more people living with HIV remain engaged in services and receive the long-term, sustainable support and access to medicines that they need.
  3. Support clients to adhere to their treatment plans. The same comprehensive services that keep more clients engaged with the clinic also provide powerful incentives to keep clients adhering to their medication and treatment plans.

Combined these targets will allow us to keep people living with HIV alive and healthy while we work towards an HIV free future! Our clients’ optimism and strong health are already proving these goals possible.

Our client satisfaction surveys have provided more good news! Our patients consistently attributed their increased health and strength on the broad range of services and the loving, dignified care that they receive. One patient, Mary, explained how receiving services with love and dignity had transformed her health and her life. By the time Mary arrived at AMS, she had lost hope and thought that she would soon die. However, as she began receiving services at AMS, her expectations for the future transformed. As Mary received love, reassurance and respect from AMS staff – she says it gave her “the hope to fight for my life.” Today, Mary is healthy and happy, after being “loved back to life.” She eagerly expresses her gratitude to the AMS staff for the top quality medical care and comprehensive services that have kept her alive and healthy. Mary expresses her level of comfort at the AMS clinic by exclaiming, “this is my home!”

As always, this success and recognition belongs to the entire AMS family – including YOU! It takes a team to provide the full, holistic care that is making a difference for AMS clients. Your trust, love and support make it possible for AMS to provide these comprehensive services that have proven to make a big difference. Our clients often arrive at the clinic eager to display their relief and gratitude for the care and treatment that they receive at AMS. This recognition belongs to all of you, for providing support for our clinic, our staff members, and most importantly for our patients. Thank you!
